Our vision for the future is to focus on the basics, establish a level of light and heavy road maintenance/construction, vector control and solid waste services that are necessary, affordable and sustainable. This will ensure that Public Works responds effectively to the needs and requests of San Juan County residents.
Public Works Divisions
Construction Division has the primary responsibility for road construction/reconstruction, large drainage projects, and heavy maintenance projects. The Construction Division also handles the Community Cleanup Program.
Maintenance Division has the responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance needs of the road system such as pothole repair, culvert repair, cleaning of cattle guards and road grading.
Shop Division provides repairs and preventive maintenance for County vehicles and other types of powered equipment.
Vector Control provides services to the community in spraying for mosquitoes, larviciding (the control of mosquito larvae in ponds, ditches, and standing water), prairie dog and gopher abatement, sweeping and mowing along County roads, and weed control.
Traffic Division has the responsibility for maintenance of traffic-control devices and work-zone traffic control for construction and maintenance projects.
