We are currently recruiting for dedicated men and women to Serve a Stronger Community as Reserve Firefighters (Volunteer) with San Juan County Fire & Rescue.
The San Juan County Fire & Rescue serves 5,500 square miles from 27 fire stations placed in strategic areas around the county. The all-hazard, combination department covers the unincorporated parts of the county and through agreement, the City of Bloomfield and Town of Kirtland.
Members can apply to join at the age of 18.
Beginning August 1, 2024, applications for entry-level firefighters will be accepted at sjcounty.net/jobs.
The application period will close on September 30, 2024.
Applications for firefighters with current credentials are accepted year-round.
All applicants must pass:
- Background Check
- Abilities Test (Click here to see what's required in the ability test)
- Drug screen
- Physical examination
The applicant will be interviewed by a panel of SJCFR staff and volunteers.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend new member orientation in October and may begin attending zone meeting and trainings in November and December. Fire Academy begins in January.
