We currently have a long wait list for this course. It is offered twice a year so please be patient as we move through the list. Be sure to provide an accurate email address and phone number to be contacted when your opportunity arises. Emails addresses are not shared with solicitors.
Girls with G.R.I.T. is offered FREE of charge and is a 10-week empowerment program for local, female, community members to become more aware of criminal activity and how to prepare and prevent becoming a victim of crime. The entire program focuses on providing attendees with the education and training to increase personal safety awareness and skills. The topics covered in the program include a hands-on self-defense class, drug recognition and awareness, sexual assault and domestic violence, technology crimes, communicating under pressure, firearms training, active shooter and many more! The classes are primarily taught internally, by premier Sheriff’s Office employees, who are considered experts in their fields. The GRIT program is only offered twice a year, once in the spring (March-May) and once in the fall (September-November). Students participate in a new class topic every Tuesday night for 10 weeks from 6pm to 9pm and two Saturday classes from 9am to 1pm.
