Volunteer at the San Juan County Sheriff's Office
Apply now to become a volunteer with our office through our V.I.P!
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office has 43 that work with our office in multiple divisions and capacities. 41 volunteers donated 7,891 hours to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office in 2019; saving tax payers roughly $200,668.00 in unpaid services to San Juan County. The national value of a volunteer is $25.43 an hour but their willingness to give back to our community is worth much more than that.
The Volunteers in Partnership (V.I.P.) program was created in order to provide citizens with an opportunity to learn more about law enforcement by contributing their time to administrative and support tasks. This program allows its volunteers to play a vital role in the vision of Community and Results Oriented Policing. Through the V.I.P. Program the Sheriff’s Office is able to engage members of the community in an active problem-solving partnership.
We are able to provide for additional man power without adding additional expenses to our budget. We can do this with the support of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. The foundation supports our volunteer functions financially and accepts donations year round. You can donate today by contacting a Foundation board member at 505-334-7067.
The programs funded by the Foundation touch the lives of many, from young to old. The Foundation partners with community programs such as Reserve Deputies, Girls with GRIT, Neighborhood Watch, Community Outreach, Chaplin Support, Victim Services and many more.
The Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization providing support for efforts that enhance law enforcement/community relations, crime prevention and public safety through grant funding for specialized equipment, training, and cooperative community programs. It is governed by volunteer directors.
Your support and generosity for the SJCSO and the Foundation are greatly appreciated.
