Staff from the San Juan County Assessor’s Office and the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services will help veterans and unmarried surviving spouses of veterans file for:
Veterans Property Tax Exemptions
100% Permanent-and-Total Service-Connected
Disabled Property Tax Exemptions
GET YOUR EXEMPTION ON THE SPOT!
To show proof of veteran status, bring a copy of one of the following forms:
- DD-214
- National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Form 56-16
- U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Form 1867
- If filing for the disabled property tax exemption: Letter from the VA declaring 100% permanent & total service-connected disabled rating
To show proof of NM residency, please bring one of the following:
- Valid NM Driver’s License
- Voter Registration Card
- Latest NM Income Tax Return
