The mission of the Public Relations Office is to increase community awareness and support of San Juan County, its mission and goals through professional involvement and management of county-wide publications and communications. The Public Relations Office strives to create an environment of mutual respect, ethical conduct, freedom of inquiry and expression, and diversity.

To ensure accurate and credible communications and information be provided to the media, citizens, businesses, civic groups, visitors, and other organizations. To market the county in order to receive the most positive response to ensure citizen interest and support as we continue to work towards “Building a Stronger Community”.

The responsibilities of the Public Relations Office include the following general government programs or services: strategic communication programs, media relations, dissemination of public information, education outreach programs, crises communication activities, coordination of general government Web site, Facebook & X (formerly Twitter) content, and special public events.
