San Juan County Commission Seeks to Fill Legislature Seat
AZTEC, NM—San Juan County Commission is now accepting letters of interest and resumes from candidates to fill the vacant seat for New Mexico House of Representatives District 3.
Upon the resignation of Representative T. Ryan Lane, a vacancy exists in the New Mexico House District 3. According to New Mexico state law, a vacancy is filled by appointment by the Board of Commissioners of the represented county. The appointment by the Commission is only for filling the remainder of the current term, expiring at the end of the year. The results of the November election will determine the representative effective Jan 1, 2025.
San Juan County Commissioners voted Wednesday to accept letters of interest and associated supporting documentation from eligible citizens who wish to be considered for appointment. The deadline for submission is April 1, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
Eligible citizens must be a registered voter in New Mexico House District 3. Their current voter registration in San Juan County must reflect an address within one of the precincts in the district.
San Juan County Commission will meet on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. to review applicants. Applicants will have the opportunity to make an optional 5-minute presentation to the Commission.
Submissions must be received by 5:30 p.m. on April 1, 2024. Applicants may send their letter of interest and resume by any of the methods below.
